The classical side of David Benoit

The classical side of David Benoit

If you’ve only experienced the music of David Benoit in the jazz genre, here is a rare opportunity to hear a side of David Benoit that you have been missing out on — his classical side.

You are watching a video excerpt of David Benoit conducting the Asia America Youth Orchestra in the Northern California debut of his latest orchestral piece, “Native Californian.” David composed this piece for the AAYO while he was a fellow at the Lucas Artists Residency Program in Montalvo. Even with only half the orchestra present, the youth did a terrific job!

Leave David a comment and let him know what you think, or what feelings are invoked as you hear this piece.  Would you like to hear more of “Native Californian?”  If you are a native Californian (like David) or have spent time in the great state of California, does this conjure up images of California for you?

    Hi, David,

I’m a longtime fan dating back to “Digits” and most recently took my son to see you at Catalina Jazz Club and had requested “Sunset Island!”

I absolutely love this video. Are there any CD’s out that include this?

    Thanks,
    Sherry

Always enjoy your music…both jazz and not jazz. Admire your ability to “stretch”, also great to see you work with younger artists. Another trip to Texas is due…Dallas and/or the surrounding area would be good.

  4. I have always been a big fan of your jazz music. This is my first time experiencing the classical side. Enjoyed it very much.

  5. Love, love you and youf brilliant music. Just happened to name my golden retriever puppy "Linus" The Gallo Arts Center in Modesto would be a great venue and I will be on the first row. Anita

It just fits California and I would love to see the performance. Especially in Modesto at the Gallo center for the Arts. It is a wonderful place with some of the best acoustics of any venue. Please, please consider it. Central California isn’t all cowboys and steer manure. That’s what people might thnk if youre traveling on Highway 99′

Thanks for letting me say what’s on my mind. Hope you get to read it

FACCI SOGNARE!!! Un grande saluto, Silvia!

    Hi David,

I loved this song and the performance of these young musicians…you seem to enjoy working with youngsters and I think that is wonderful. I just returned home tonight after seeing you perform the Charlie Brown Christmas concert at MCGJazz in Pittsburgh and wish we had more time to talk when getting your autograph. I’ve been a fan for 3 decades and hope you return to Pittsburgh soon. Good luck on the rest of the tour and have fun shopping (or window shopping) on 5th Ave in NYC.

    Be safe and well,

    John

  8. I hope you will make a recording available — It sounds amazing!
